Keyword research tips:
Tip #1: Variety rocks!
The keywords that you research should be weaved into the text of your web pages. Always keep in mind that not everyone searches the web using the same terms, so try to say the same thing using different words to increase the chance of others finding you.
Tip #2: Be cool with your SEO! (or as Google would say "Do no evil".)
Never use keywords or search terms that are not related to your website's theme. If you want the search engines to take you seriously and drive qualified traffic, don't try to game the system... it will never work for the long run.
Tip #3: Take the monkey by the long-tail.
Some search terms and keywords are extremely hard to rank for (ex: cell phones). Instead of trying to fight a futile battle, target terms like "Nokia E70 cell phone battery". Then simply rinse and repeat... you'll soon have enough pages that get little traffic. Remember that Rome wasn't built in one day, just keep at it and you'll soon dominate your market!
Tip #4: Go broad!
Use our
free latent semantic keyword generator
to find themes and keywords that are related broadly to your market and create a few web pages optimized for them. This will help you drive even more relevant traffic from the serps. (Hint: You can also use that tool to generate keywords and then search for them to find link partners or more places to advertise your website).
Tip #5: And then refine...
Once you have a good long list use search engine databases to refine it and see what people have actually searched for when looking for similar sites. The keyword research tool above, tells you exactly how many times each term was searched last month... use that information wisely!
